Bit of a long shot but does anyone have an old style (aluminium instead of bent tin) rear wheel ABS ring :?:

I've got hold of a 5.5" rim (thanks Andrew) but need either the older style ring, (but not at BMW prices), or some spacers.

Cheers :)

Hi Ian

I presume your bike is non-ABS,i've used an ABS wheel on my S just spaced the disc with washers, the ABS ring looks crap anyway,if i remember rightly it's 4.5mm.

Chris

My bike is ABS, but with the later tin ABS ring which is only 1 mm thick. The wider wheel is for the thicker alloy ring. Using spacers is probably the easiest way to go.

Ian,

I wonder if it might not be worth visiting a local metal workers. They might have some aluminium plate the right thickness, or better still aluminium bar/tube. You might even be able to get one of them to cut out some round spacers for you cash in hand  If not, what about stainless steel washers? You won’t need that many if you lose the hub spacer as well :D

Hope you get the wheel on soon, regards

Andrew

Tell me what you want, and I'll make you them on the lathe if you want. Stainless or aluminium.

Brilliant :P

That's an offer I can't refuse.

I need 5 spacers, either aluminium or, if it's no problem, stainless. O.D. 20.0 mm, I.D. 8.0 mm, thickness 4.0 mm.

Thanks a lot, I'll P.M. you details

Cheers

They're made:

They're all between 4.00 and 4.08 mm thick. I'm guessing that's sufficient accuracy?

I didn't have stainless of a large enough diameter, so they're aluminium.

I'd mailed you before seeing this. They're excellent :P :P Knowing the exacting specifications BMW seem to work to anything between 2 and 6 would probably work.

Thanks again

Ian
