The dip one though is acknowledged as a bit of a pig to do. Sure enough it's a right PITA, has to be done completely by touch and one of the spring clips just doesn't seem to want to play ball an release.... faffed about for 30 minutes and FINALLY managed to release it, once done it all popped back on in minutes.
Inspired by the job I decided to fit the spots I'd bought for my 800GS, the LED lamps are exactly the same as OEM BMW ones, but cost me £50 the pair on ebay. What's nice is they include the mounts too which are multi fit and slot onto the engine bars nicely.
I also found on ebay a prewired sub loom which made life a lot simpler to fit them. I was going to take a feed off the sidelight using a canbus spliter that's made for the job, but wussed out as it meant drilling a hole into the headlight access plate to let the relay feed wire out.
In the end I've taken the relay feed from the power socket, now there's a "negative" to this, in that the canbus system keeps the power socket live for a minute after turning off the bike. However, I find it quite useful, my car has the "Follow you home lights" feature which lights the drive for a minute after arriving home so you can find the front door easily etc. So the bike now has the same feature
