Pretty decent explanation of the technology in modern BMW's
Although it relates to the GS it's still relevant across the range, the Hill Start Control was neat having been in that position on dirt bikes in the past it was nice to see how it would help

Irrational isn't it; I'm a strong supporter of technology in business, and a huge fan of Blockchain / AI applications. But I avoid it on bikes and to an extent cars as far as possible...

Most impressive thing I saw at the NEC was this

A patented 7 inch headlight shell with numerous LEDS, and a gyroscope. As the bike leans the LEDs on the appropriate side illuminate the bend. So not only do you have a bright LED headlight but it also eliminates the main weakness of motorcycle headlights. And just in time for the Retro bike explosion. This idea should do brilliantly ( get it!)

Yes Steve, but on a £16 grand luxury bike. This is £500 plug and play solution

Brilliant.
But yet we don't get a simple fog light, which every other motorised vehicle has.
Perhaps the manufacturers think a bike will always be seen in thick fog from behind.
Personally, I wish some of the expense of these so called advances in technology could be siphoned off to help give us bikes that don't start falling apart at the first whiff of road salt.
As for modes.
If the day ever comes where I have the need to press a button on wet roads because I lack the basic skill of throttle control, I'll hang up the helmet for good, because I'll know I shouldn't be on the road anymore.
