A couple of days ago I bought my first R1200S, and very impressed I am with it too.
In comparison with my R1100S it feels more compact. nimble and way more powerful.
Love it........
My first ride was in the rain and I couldn't help noticing that it has the same issue as a previous R1200GS - water and dirt from the road surface sprays out from the rear wheel directly onto my ankles.
I seem to remember buying some sort of plastic guard for the R1200GS to stop this happening.
Would fitting a rear hugger be the solution for the R1200S?
If so any particular recommendations for an effective one?
Cheers
I use one of these and don't recall wet ankles. Expensive but the nicest. (fortunately my 12 came with it) Get in touch and mention Boxertrix. Sandbar might do something for you.
Never noticed wet ankles on my 12 before fitting a carbon hugger. Do however ride in Sidi Goretex boots so probably wouldn't have noticed the issue anyway. The hugger also does a sterling job of protecting the rear Ohlins so worth it for that alone.
Can't say I've ever had this issue either, but that said, I have always had a hugger and waterproof boots.
I have used a pyramid hugger and currently a Ilmberger hugger. The latter is more elegant, but both will protect the shock. Just make sure you buy one suitable for your rear wheel / tyre combination.
They do come up on ebay if you find the new price off-putting, worth keeping an eye out.

At time of posting, this is at £1.20. Throw a silly bid in, you might get lucky.
Thanks++ for the Ebay link.
Obviously a popular item as it's had 8 bids from three people already!
I'm away out of the UK travelling at the moment and accessing the Internet on an ancient mobile phone.
Can see that it's got three days to run & will put in a bid - ancient mobile phone permitting.....
