2003 Randy Mamola BCR - No High beam????

Post by HarrisBikeNut »

Bike failed MOT due to something failing on the 8 mile ride to my usual tester. Currently have fairing and tank off and have checked the following -
1. Bulb is fine
2. No blown fuses
3. Battery good
4. High beam brown lead is wired with pilot bulb which works fine so power not an issue (?)
5. Checked left hand switch gear - seems fine. There is continuity from white / yellow at high beam rocker in left hand switch to white / yellow at the 4 pin connector on right hand side of bike.
6. Wiring around front of bike looks OK - the "heat shrink" type covering is split in a number of places.

So questions -
1. Right side of bike has a black, blue and yellow relay. The yellow is fuel pump - is either black or blue involved in high beam?
2. Should I look for an earth issue somewhere? It would appear that the wiring from the left switch goes to the relay box on the left side of the bike.
3. Other issues - left switch cluster? Earth point somewhere?!?!

All suggestions greatly appreciated!

You're getting voltage to the bulb, but what about the return earth (batt -ve?

Stick a return wire in parallel and see what you get?

If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....
