R1200S Front Wheel Bearings

Just taken the front wheel off the R1200S and even though it only has 14K miles the bearings are very notchy and grumbly . Looking on Rainbow parts on line and taking the part numbers off the existing seals I can identify them as :
07119965065 Shaft seal 32 x 47 x 7
36312335070 Shaft seal 30 x 47 x 7
Both are available from BMW (and indeed on line)
The bearings are listed as :
07119981048 25x47 2RS Grooved Ball Bearing
However these are listed as NLA so I have been looking on line to see if I can get them and have found the following :
6005 2RS C3 KOYO Deep Groove Bearing - 25 x 47 x 12mm
It is difficult to get a good measurement of the bearing width - has anyone done this job before and able to confirm or otherwise the width of the bearings as being 12mm ?

Hi John, I replaced mine recently with under 20K miles, check out
www.Motorworks.co.uk IIRC there are different bearing sizes available for the 12s, check there site and just measure the external/internal diameter of your bearings and go from there.

Hi Phil - thanks for the reply . Looking at Motorworks there are different seals shown but only one type of bearing for cast wheels . I can get seals for £2 each and I know the sizes of them as I can read it off the originals . I can get the bearings I listed for £6 each so if I can confirm the width I can do the job for £16 as Simply bearings offer free delivery vs over £30 with Motorworks . Guess I'll just have to get the old ones out before I order the new ones if I can't confirm beforehand

The bearings you've traced you say are c3 clearance.
Are wheel bearings usually c3 clearance?

C3 are a common choice - C0 are better.

They also list a FAG bearing which states "standard clearance" ? Will this be a C0 ? I can't see any in this size that state C0

C3 is increased internal clearance. So standard clearance is "tighter". Whether extra internal clearance is a good thing depends on the application. Motorcycles are fickle things in design. A premium on space and weight saving demands it.
Bottom line, I'm not sure whether c3 is better in this case or not! There's no heavy interference fit involved. No excessive heat into the inner race. But the basic design might rely on increased clearance? Poor alignment (in engineering terms). The usual spacer between the inner races might remove a bit of internal clearance when all is clamped up?
I'm not sure! That's why I asked.
What would I do? On a UJM I'd probably go c3.

Ok - so I removed the old seals and what a mess the bearings were in - a mass of rusty liquid all over them , think the previous owner has been off roading (or pressure washing) lol ! On cleaning them up the bearings are NSK 6005DU which are 25x47x12 standard clearance . So I have ordered a set of SKF replacements along with new seals from Simply Bearings for £16.98 delivered .

Steve - I agree , apparently BMW used 4 different size seals so you have to measure or read off the sizes off the existing seals to determine the size you need . The bearings as you state are 25x47 2RS , I was just initially unsure as to the fit and width but now having got the seals out I know they are 25x47x12 with standard clearance as the ones currently fitted are 6005DU's .
Just for info BMW advised that the bearings 07119981048 have been superseded by 36318531207 and that the total cost for bearings and seals would be £43.52 . (I paid £16.98 from Simply Bearings)

Ordered the indicator lenses and the tail tidy - I think the seller missed a 1 out when he advertised yours.
Let me know when you find the LED bulbs (saves me looking for them lol)
