Laser Boxercup Problem!!

Hello Gang;

Have a little Problem with my new Laser Boxercup Exhaust.
Installed system on my bike, The problem I am having is the
left header pipe collar when it bolts up to the short left pipe,
The bolt and collar hit the frame of the bike. When the bike is
Cold I only have about 3/16 clearance between the collar and
frame as the header pipe heats up the Collars hits the frame. :(
You can't get anymore clearance because the Left short pipe
dicktate's how the collar on the Header pipe lines up with the
bolt holes!!
Has anyone else had or have this problem?
Never Had a problem with my old Vanderlinde System!!!

Hi
Try loosening the whole system from the headers all the way through. Then insert a wedge where your having the problem to gain some clearance.Retighten system starting from the front headers working back to the tail pipes.Hopefully this should sort out the problem.Does yours have the crappy bar bracket at the bottom of the Y piece which locates into the supports for the CAT?I junked mine as it never fitted proper, however much i bent it.Its been fine without it.

Don't bend it - just cut about 1/3" off each end and it will fit perfectly.

Laser's manufacturing tolerances are a bit like creative accounting - it fits where it touches!! (IMHO)

As Sandbar says it fits where it touches there tollerances are crap, modify it or take it back and get another one.

My flanges where different angles and I spent an age on a belt linisher to get them to match (almost)

OOOhhh you bitch.
The stabalizer bar on mine wasnt to long or anything, just the wrong shape.Fitted ok in one end,3 inches out the other. Its just excess weight anyhow.Would have cost me about 300 quid to lose that weight through carbon or titanium bits.

Yeah... Getting back to your Lazer exhaust problem:

I always use to fit it all loosely and start by tightening the headers to the mid section. Last time I took off and refitted my current Van der Linde (to polish off the rust  ) I decided to assemble the mid section and cans before refitting to the bike to join up to the loose headers. That allowed me to cure a problem I had been having with a leaky join between mid section and cans. I took off the rear wheel when fitting the combined cans and mid section bit to simplify the process.

I seem to remember with my Lazers that the cans and mid section don't mate together too positively. Joining them and fitting them back on the bike together would at least ensure that the mid section is fully inserted into the cans and might solve you problems further down the plumbing towards the headers.

Hmmm. Remind us of the story about "straightening out" your heel plate brackets Bob

Sounds like you should have all bought a Staintune system, perfect fit.

...and I thought exploring the top end of the performance envolope and getting away with it depended on whether you're a trained traffic officer assesing the capabilities of their vehicle :) not the enhanced power delivery of your exhaust.

Paul,

You could not be closer to the truth. Just phoned BMW in Glasgow after leaving my bike there and after stripping it myself to find nothing.

They plugged the bike in, found the mixture to be wrong getting too much air. After checking the bike over they found a 3" split near the end cans.

No wonder my poor bike was unwell. I remember somebody else having a problem with their Staintune. Picking the bike up on Saturday, so will see where the split is and contact the Staintune importer to see what they will do as it should not have gone this early.
