New to owning a 2001 R1100s just about to do a full oil and filter change and was thinking of changing the rubber hoses on my ABS model brakes to stainless and I am not sure if it's possible to do this with the ABS system or if I want to change the originals which are now 14 years old I'd have to use BMW spec rubber hoses

At 14 years old, i'd say that you'd definitely get a good improvement from braided lines. goodridge list them for the ABS model, so i'd say that most places will make them. I personally prefer Hel lines, although you can get some a lot cheaper and equally as good

Braided hoses are the way to go. I think there are 3 required for the ABS setup (two at the front and one at the back) I think??
There are quite a few variations of ABS (brake lines, calipers, etc) so best to take the existing ones off and send them to HEL and they will make them to suit. Don't try and second guess the ones on offer from EBAY as chances are they will be wrong!

HEL now say they don't offer kits for BMWs because of the number of variants for banjo angles etc but they will make up hoses if you send the originals - I've heard good reports about the turnaround time. Just fitted a longer hose to my 12S and used the Goodridge build a line option - bought the banjos, fitted them and cos I know the owner of a small bike dealer just around the corner from me, he let me take a line and swap it til I got the length I was happy with. Will probably use this to fit hoses to my BCR

I have recently fitted HEL purchased from BIKESBITSNI on non-ABS (see ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stainless-Ste ... 3ce7aa68ab, they do not specifically say they are HEL but sell both front & rear for discounted price of around £60 which is very competitive price). I would contact these guys as they are very helpful & surprised if they cannot meet your needs; the banjo is also able to twisted to any direction (i only mention this as i had to do it & they informed me how to do it).

I have just got mine from Venhill after sending my originals for them to measure up etc. I received four lines - one from right caliper to junction box on right side of frame, one from the other pipe in same area to master cylinder and one from solid metal pipe across forks to right caliper plus the rear caliper. Fantastic quality, built in adjustability at banjo ends and fast delivery. They received my lines Monday and I had the new hoses by Thursday the same week.
Email Venhill and ask Neal to sort you out!
