Rear wheel shim

Post by Pete. »

I have two R1100S, a 2002 and a 2004. I got a puncture in the rear tyre on the 2004 and swapped the wheel from the 2002. I noticed that the 2002 bike has a flat shim between the wheel and the hub but the 2004 hasn't.

Am I missing a shim or do some bikes have them and some not?

Is one an ABS model while the other is not?

Yes, actually, the one with the shim is ABS and the other is not.

There you go. The wheels are the same but the abs bike needs the shim.
