R1200S and Helibars

Post by Topcat »

Been meaning to ask for a while but never got round to it.

Those of you with the R1200S and Heli bars, did you have to rotate the right hand clamp thingy ( you know, the bit that has the start / stop switch on top, holds the throttle and all that) down to stop the kill switch clashing with the fairing on full lock and turning the bike off? I did.

If you have come up with a clever solution, I'm all ears. I'm kinda used to it now but still find the cancel switch to low and the throttle is a bit awkward.

Thanks

When I fitted mine it cleared by a quarter inch. IIRC this was mentioned in the instructions. Never had a problem. I had a flip up screen so maybe touch more clearance where the screen lip arced upwards on the rear edge.

Bike is now with SP250 so he may have a view.

No problems here Dave, either with the original fairings or the Carbon Ilmberger which I bought from Gus, the only thing I found was the front brake line maybe a touch tight.

+1 on the brake line. Mine clears OK. I seem to recall someone from this parish chamfered the end of the kill switch

I found that the front brake line was very tight when the bike was on the stand. I was more worried what might happen over a crest or when the front was unloaded. In the end I fitted a longer front line to ease the fears. I do recall messing with the bar piston and switch but can't remember what I settled on!

Hmmm, interesting.

My ones cause the kill switch hit the fairing, not the screen and it turns the engine off so had the rotate them but had no problems with the brake lines?!

I will double check the instructions when I'm back home.

Thanks for the replies.

No problem with the brake lines on mine but I had to rotate the instrument cluster towards me to avoid hitting the fairing.

no problem with the brake line or the fairing, it's quite tight, clearance wise, but acceptable. odd indeed that some seem different to others
