A boring one really, but the number plate bulb has blown and I believe that is an MoT fail. There is no info in the R1200S owners manual that I can see.

Does anyone know if I should be able to pull the rubber bulb holder out the back (I don't want to pull too hard) or do I need to disassemble the unit to get at the bulb?

I haven't even been able to find out what bulb to get - and I'll be passing halfords later...

This doesn't answer your question, but I had my 1100S MOT'd two weeks ago. Just before I took it down I thought "I'll just quickly check the lights", only to discover that the no. plate light wasn't working.

I had a look and there was no bulb in at all. Luckily I had one (same as a car interior light bulb) but it still didn't come on and I didn't have time to investigate so took it in to see what else it failed on - so I was quite surprised to be told it had passed.

Funny thing is, it didn't fail on the number plate light last year either, which was done at a different test station (I didn't take the bulb out and it hasn't been anywhere else), so it either isn't part of the test or maybe bike testers are so used to the plate light being part of the tail light, that as long as the tail light works they don't think of checking elsewhere?

Cheers Al. I'm not too concerned about it to be honest - I'm not convinced he checks it. I did look for an MoT motorcycle checklist and it did include number plate light.

If I get time this evening, I'll have a go at taking the assembly apart, otherwise I'll take a punt on I being OK.

E11. 12v 5w.

It's held in a rubber press fit holder. It's a bit tight, but will pull right out if you have a strong grip.
