Nice suprise...from Swansea

Post by Hayden »

I traded my bike in on Monday just gone, picked up the new one and all very happy.

Today I received a road tax refund for the remainder on the old bike...blimey, I didn`t think they did that.. :)

very suprised as I`d read a lot of bad press regarding the new vehicle tax system.

Don't forget you will have had to pay road tax from 1st June for your new bike & you will have got nowt back for the month of June on your old bike, therefore you have paid 2-lots of Road Tax for June..... :?

Multiply that by every single vehicle changing hands every month ....

Some where in my simple out look , I thought govt or quasi govt organisations were NOT allowed to make a profit off the public .....

I had this experience this month buying my sons first car. If you follow the law to the letter, it's a pain in the backside.

Tax now belongs to the keeper, not the vehicle, so I bought Toms car on the 15, the previous owner had taxed the car until the end of the month, but I had to tax the car from the first June.

I also had to tax it online after the log book had been signed before I could drive it home.

I do wonder who thinks of these processes sometimes? This process is really poorly thought through. There should be a couple of days grace when you change a vehicle to at least allow you to drive it home.

They do allow it only not here - I believe it's in a place called Cuckoo Land
Robbing barstewards but what can you do? At least with a bike you can transport it home in a van (as I did with my R12)
