Touring tyre - Michelin?

Hi all,
Got a few longish trips coming up and need to select a rear tyre that won't square off too badly. Currently running a Pilot 2CT, and wondered what other's experiences are of different Michelins that might work ok with my almost new 2CT front.

Road pilot (not the 2, 3 or 4 but the original) Won't square off until you have done about 5000 miles.

Don't know about combining with the 2CT front, but I've been very pleased with the Pilot Road 2s - that's feel, wet grip, longevity and resistance to squaring off. Just fitted another set

I got 6.5K miles out of the last pair; front and rear worn out together, mind. The front held its profile and the rear simply would not square off. In fact both tyres wore out on the shoulders not the centre. 3K miles on mainly minor roads (no motorways at all) in France and Spain last year may help to explain that
Was going to try PR3s as they're reportedly even better but couldn't pass up £160 for a pair of PR2s (thanks Al).

Not sure if the PR2 (which was a superb tyre, I thought) - has been in production for several years now - so if you feel that tyres go off with age, then perhaps don't go hunting them out - as they should be old stock.
PR3 supposed to be better still, and the subsequent PR4 an improvement again. While the improvement of 3 over 2 and 4 over 3 might not be groundbreaking - I'm fairly certain that no-one is saying that the 2 is better than the 3 or 4.
I think all the PRs are compatible also. (PR2 front, PR4 rear) etc.

Good stuff, thanks guys.
Seems like maybe the 2CT is more of a sports-oriented tyre. On my second one now, and it's nearly done - only done about 3k on it, so not exactly long-lasting.
I'll check out the PR series, thanks again.

Yes - the 2CT was standard fare on a high percentage of pure sports bikes, for several years, but realistically - the Pilot Road was a better tyre for most people.
I don't think you'll find the PRoad tyres lacking for roads and even the odd track day.......

Just put a Mich PR3 on the rear of my R1100S as they don't make a PR4 in 170 size for the 5" wide rim, only a 180 which needs a 5.5" rim.
