New suspension springs - R11S

Post by Motocod »

Just wondering if anyone has purchased new suspension springs to suit their weight? If so, where did you get them?

Thanks,

Nik

Nik - sorry I can't speak for BM's, but I know Hyperpro do a range of replacement springs for a large number of OEM shocks on Japanese bikes.

May be worth a try?

Are those for standard shocks or aftermarket? I've got both sets of aftermarket shocks on my bike sprung to my weight. Ohlins on the S and Nitrons on the GS.

As Gromit says, Hyperpro do springs that should fit and people often do that on GS. Personally if I were you I'd go the whole hog and get some aftermarket shocks. Second hand would obviously be cheaper (factor in a bit to get them serviced), if you're looking new Nitron are good quality and a bit cheaper than the bigger brands (and they'll stick the correct spring on for you by default).

You could try RAMSHOX offerd by Realm Engineering. [www.realmengineering.com ]

They've been involved with race shox for their replica Jag C Types and Cobras for over 30 years - road and race.

Been involved in bike shox for the past 9 years,

Ben Kingham won the B.E.A.R.S. championship outright using RAM suspension on his K100.

The Oilhead range has now been fully developed and is available in specs to suit individual riders as each shock is manufactured and assembled entirely in the UK.

Hi Steve - thanx for the kind words ..................

Don't want to mislead anyone - the RAMSHOX site is currently in the process of getting updated to include all the other components and parts they are making - GRP parts, Plug Leads, suspension [ adjustable Paralever and Telelever ] and of course - the new shox.

The Oilhead shox are a slightly different pricing due to the additional furniture that has to be made - CNC parts etc.

Still good value for a quality well proven item.

Rear is £265
front £225

ALL RAMSHOX include C Spanner and fixings where applicable.

However, buy as a pair and it reduces to the aforementioned £225 per unit
= £450.00.

Comes as a purpose made unit to your specs [ weight, riding style, etc ].

I'm currently working on the revamped sites [ Realm and RAMSHOX ] and it will be up there as soon as all the new parts are productionised.

BTW - jigs being made for 10mm shorter Telelever [ non-adjustable ] to modify owners' components on exchange. Adjustable version on the way.

Don't forget 10% discount for BT members - tell them TJ sent you.

NO - all the adjustment is at the bottom of the shock body. Dampening adjustment via simple knurled knob - no fiddly screwdriver's required.

Those look nice, but I'd need a remote preload adjustment, as I regularly carry a passenger and luggage.

Initially I'd like to just explore the options for re-springing the standard shocks.
