Has anyone heard of or used this chip?

Since he's not asking half an arm for for it, and after reading his blurb, I'm thinking he might be a genuine tinkerer who has come up with a good thing.
At US $88 I'm almost tempted, but I think I'll fit Lennie's sprockets first before I get distracted.

Sounds interesting, I might drop him a mail and see whether he has something suitable for the 1100S.

John and I have exchanged a couple of emails - he doesn't have a chip available for the twin spark yet, but I'm going to send him the binary file from my bike for him to use as a basis for creating one. Watch this space...

Oh, forgot to ask - where is the ECU located? I've a nasty feeling it's under the tank, and I'll have to take all the bodywork off again...

Under the tank between the battery and the ABS unit (if you have one). It's mounted upright and screwed in place but you also need to split it in half (held together with silicone) to get the chip out.

Thanks - figured as much. Not sure I have the inclination to take all the bodywork off again. Does anyone have an old chip they can send me? I have the capability of reading/programming EPROMs at work, so it'll allow me to read the binary info so I can send it to John for him to tweak.

What was the outcome ???????
Just been told that the PC3 for the 1100S has been discontinued and the PCV is "not suitable" ...........comments ?

There is a PC3 in France - reasonable price?

Or - hunt down a Techlusion unit, which gives some degree of adjustability?

(I'd check with them by mail that it does include the 1100s engine, but at least at that price - it should fall outside the UK Duty threshold?)

Hi Motocod.
John has asked for the .bin file on my chip.
I have an electronics background but not in this area.
What is needed to read and copy this file?
Cheers.

You need a device capable of reading the contents of the EPROM. Fortunately I have one here at work, and work with a bunch of electronics designers. I may take my ECU out over the weekend, if I can be bothered to strip all the bodywork off again...

It's ok Motocod. I have an electronics background.
Is it a straight forward Eprom reader or something more exotic?
Cheers

Apologies HF - I'm a mechanical engineer, so relying on the expertise of the electronics guys at work. I'm starting to feel like I don't want to mess with the chip in case i bugger it up and can't run my bike, so might leave well alone. Would prefer to be able to have a chip I can swap out with standard, rather than pulling it and trying to read it, and potentially wiping it. That would be bad!

Question - if I pull out my ECU will it affect or damage my chip in any way? Also, if I remove the chip will it wipe it?
Slightly reluctant to pull it at a time when I'm using the bike lots.

Hi Nik.
No. You can't wipe the chip just by removing it from the ECU. Any changes to chip can be made only with an EPROM programming unit.
