is there a trick to getting them out? I can wiggle them up and down a bit using the tool under the seat, but they ain't shifting. I need to remove them so I can do the valve clearances.
Cheers,
Nik

There is a small tool that should be with the tool kit for pulling the caps off.

They should feel a bit snug but it will pull out. No wiggle just a good old tug.

The black plastic tool that fits over the end? Yeah, tried that on both sides, they're proper stuck!

Pull harder but be careful you don't pull the bike over on top of yourself.

Sometimes those plastic caps will refuse to budge the buggers.
Some padding on either side of the cap, and two broad-blade screwdrivers and apply EVEN PRESSURE ON EACH SIDE - should dislodge it without cracking the plastic of the cap.

Yeah, I'll try that, thank you. I had a little look around on the web and saw that a boot lace round the end can do it. Might try squirting a bit of lube down there too.
Thanks guys!

Flat stubby screwdrivers are best (so you are not levering at the end of 12" driver

)

In other words, pry it out, but do it very carefully!

Hooked a cable tie round, squirt of GT85, and a slight bit of prying with a screwdriver, and out they popped!
