1100S Silencer mounting bracket - odd spacer

I've had two 1100S models and both have had a snapped silencer mounting bracket. It's number 23 on this diagram:
As a result I'm replacing it on the Boxer Cup at the moment but the new one I bought from BMW has a spacer which the old one didn't seem to have. It's about a centimeter long. It doesn't go between the bracket and the fibreglass rear unit because the supplied bolt isn't long enough. It's not on the parts diagram which is confusing me.
Has anybody got this spacer on theirs? I'm wondering whether it's an update to the bracket because they kept snapping like both the bikes I've owned! I had Laser cans on both bikes - don't know if that affects anything.

Same bracket broke on my BCR Laser system, just had copy fabricated in heavier gauge stainless steel, cost just a couple of dollars. I just reused bolts..do you mean part 24?

No, there's a spacer with the new kit that wasn't on either of the bikes I had. It's about half a cm long and the right internal diameter for one of the bolts. Just wondering whether to use it or not - I'm thinking it might be an update to prevent the breakages.

Some years back, I described how I fabricated and fitted a bracket for that location on my standard R. The original exhaust did not have the bracket and having heard of Laser replacement silencers jettisoning off at high speeds, I thought it prudent to add some more security. There followed a bit of a debate about the bracket being pointless, merely adding to the vibes felt through the seat by eliminating the isolated nature of the exhaust mounting. I would add there were no noticeable additional vibes, but there was some additional peace of mind about the security of my exhaust.

Are parts 22,23 and 24 supposed to be used on stock silencers too? Ive recenty fitted a Remus decay and it came with 22 and 24 but as I didn't have the 23 I didn't know what these "extra" bits were for.

I think they are. I've had two 1100S but they both had Laser cans fitted. They both had them but they were both snapped!
