Bars above the top yoke

Now here's an odd one.

My mate Barney was telling me he'd moved his bars above the yoke this week and he was impressed with the added comfort.

His Boxercup is the same year as mine (02 single spark registered in 03)

Neither has ABS.

Both have standard OEM hoses.

His had more than enough slack to allow the change, mine didn't.

Now I know it's only the ABS ones that are supposed to have enough slack to allow the mod so I'm puzzled why there's this anomaly :)

I just told him mine's the sports model his is the slower touring version ;)

Not that I'm psychologically damaged by some of the things I've seen, not at all. But some people can make anything "fit".

OK, the guy with the Harley tourer who turned up at 11 PM the day before he had a morning ferry to Spain, with brake "pads" so thin that the rear one had jammed between the caliper and the disk, does keep me awake occasionally. Took me 'til 3AM, while he was sleeping, to modify some car pads and then he rode off. He did give me the thumbs up.......erm, thanks, Bro!

The guy with the RSV1000 who'd managed to replace the rear wheel and not engage the rear brake torque arm fitting. The caliper had whizzed around to rest on the swinging arm. Still worked! But the hose routing was interesting. Yea. The occasional nightmare (he had a nice girlfriend / pillion).

Cable ties are OK, but not suitable for replacing stripped cush drive bolts....

Please do not turn up at scrutineering with no outer plate on your final drive chain split link (let alone a clip or rivet head) and expect me to agree that a piece of baling wire is a suitable replacement.

I could go on......

It got so bad that I once spend a sleepless night at a rally creeping around peoples bikes and tidying up shit cable routings with cable ties.

I think it was the hydraulic line I spotted that was slowly, ever so slowly, being cut through by the edge of a disk that brought it on.

Harry the Werewolf Mechanic!!

Most bikes are kept standard now - thank God!

Maybe express amazement at how he managed it and ask for more details?

Barneys mechanical skills are very high, he worked all his life in the role :)

He was helping me fit mine and after we realised there was a problem we got the tape out and his pipe was actually longer than mine, which is very puzzling :)
