Been looking to get a new lid for a while, my Shoei is well past its supposed shelf life(made up by manufacture`s.!!) I have to wear spec`s most of the time and HJC seem to be one of the few firms that cater for this so I tried a few on in the local dealers and decided on the RPHA-10 @ £350+ depending on graphics, decided to wait and have a look on the net and saw that Lids Direct are doing last years colours at £150-175 , lid comes with clear and light smoke visors and a pinlock insert, washable removable interior, nose guard and chin curtain+ 5 yr warranty. Arrived today fits a treat just got to wait for it to stop raining and do a road test!!!

Good for you, Al...........

You availed yourself of all the facilities of your local outlet.............

Then went on t'internet -to get the cheapest price :x

Don't expect a Christmas card from your local dealers this year (if they are still in business)

Al, Three weeks ago they had last years models on the shelf, now the new range has come out they have dissapered, asked about discounted old colours but was told they return them to manufacurers so they had thier chance, and as they are the biggest of three dealerships in Exeter I am sure they will survive, to be fair the clothing prices are very competetive and I will propably get new trousers from them, but no deals on lids.

Hey Al,

Take my criticism as being "in principal" rather than at you or the circumstances of your purchase - then...........

You can see where I'm coming from, though :D

Al, I know what you are saying, and I have "used" the local dealer, BUT anybody in business these days can see what the competition is doing by using the web, and if they choose not to compete, well that is not my problem as I am sure you, me and just about everybody else is always looking for the best value for money, sure there are some who have to have the latest, most up to date, whatever, and will pay the full price to be seen with the latest must have piece of kit, but 99% I am sure want the best they can get at the most reasonable cost and if shops/dealers want to survive they have to be competetive/adaptive to the consumer needs, I support local business as much as I can but not to the point of feeling ripped off.
Living in the south west is very nice but we have to pay extra for food, fuel, houses etc all on below average wages so paying half price on a new lid is a big deal, I will get off my soapbox now and take my wine addled body for a sleep and hopefully I can road test the new lid tomorrow, and hopefully it will be lighter, quieter and more comfortable than a 15 yr old Shoei :D
