Hilltop Motorcycles - Remap

Has no-one on here - taken their R1100s or R1200s to Hilltop Motorcycles for an ECU remap?

The chap there appears to have highlighted the low-power of BMWs as they depart the factory.

I thought the 1200 would be a good engine to do - especially if you've changed induct/exhaust.

Might remove the Power Commander and get the BCR remapped instead.

This was discussed a little while ago. The original poster had it done and was impressed.

I thought about it but thought better of it.

Hi
Yes this was discussed before.
There are better places than hill top to take your bike to get a REXER map blown into the ECU. I didn't and still don't believe you can gain 18 BHP from a 1200s remap . Unless there was something already amiss with the state of tune or there is a bit of billy bullshit involved to make the price he charged seem worthwhile.
All the best

I had my ST done at Hilltop last year - best £300 I've ever spent tbh. Couldn't care less about figures on a chart, best measure is the good old arse-dyno.

Low-speed running's sorted, which was my main issue with the bike really, and pickup in higher gears is now much, much better than before too.

Worth every penny! :D

Hi
Amazing these arse dynos!!
What model you got? Fat, bony or lumpy? What type of nerve endings you use to your brain, fibre or copper?
I,m more interested in real world gains with proof of what has been improved and where. A dyno chart does this very accurately.
Your arse and brain connection does not.
I,m sure your bike was improved by the remap ,that's not in doubt.

Did you change your mind about him having my pants down then...?!

I'd rather quantify the improvements via my own interaction with the bike than look at a printout - like you said, they're open to fiddling, aren't they!

Hi
Yes I did!
Didn't think it a fair comment to post really. There are cheaper places for the same service.
Like anything you can't do yourself, you have to trust the operator is not having your pants Down on all counts!!!

Interesting............

Who offers a similar service? How much cheaper is a remap with dyno runs?

I do like the idea of doing away with the PC (unfortunately my R-1 doesn't accept a remap......)

the only problem with the mk1 dynarse is that the wallet your sitting on , being now thinner has an effect on the connection to the brain ,,
[it cost more so it must be better.]

beware of how you blind test the theory though.

That old adage rather presupposes that I think my remap's better than the other guy's. I don't. My bike's much, much better than it was, I'm happy with the price I paid. C'est ça.

There's that other old saying too - there's always somebody who can get a better job done cheaper. Its usually bollox.

Or you can get the same job done for a better price without the bull shit and all done at places that have great reputations in the the art of tuning motorcycles.
