Riding in a group

Post by Blackal »

Got a link to this video on another bike forum............
(most of the group in the video are in the forum)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyc5j7RRDCM

Everyone else seems to be applauding the riders...............

Is it just me - who thinks there are a few crazy stunts in the short clip?

I think I'll give day-trips a miss.

Any form of advance riding or self preservation went out of the window there!

I could see a few situations that I would rather not put myself in... If thats how you get your kicks though!

Must be me .... I can't really see what's drastically wrong, I've certainly seen worse behaviour :) ... sometimes on a 'trixter rideout ;)

+1, Spirited, but nobody seemed to be out their depth. Personally, the only thing I don't like in group rides, is bike-v-bike overtakes, Should all only need to worry about cars, not each other :)

Hmmm. The overtakes on the bend possible looked worse than they were because of the low camera angle. I think the riders could see the bend was clear.

I probably wouldn't be overtaking a line of cars that are just starting to move at the roadworks. It didn't cause me a sharp intake, but I wouldn't have done it.

The fast overtake near the end was a bit unexpected (but we couldn't see in the mirrors). I'll look again later.

I think uploading that on to the net just shows that someone has a suet dumpling for grey matter. BTW it`s tame to what is on you tube uploaded by car drivers and onlookers capturing the end result of these stunts. :?
Fiat Panda.
Fiat Scudo (with speedblock, pipe carrier, reversing sensors, reversing camera, tow bar, some new rust and Fake Plumber logo)

started out with nothing, still have most of it left.

The last one to overtake into the green light was a bit tight and the quick overtake into oncoming car's path was poor... all it needed was a slight movement of the bike e passed and carnage... but clips often make things looks worse than from the rider's eye

Yeah - those are the ones I wondered about - but as you say - the rider can see better than the camera.

Still wouldn't have come up the outside at the roadworks, when the lead car was preparing to pull out to the right.

absolutely nothing wrong with anything in that video, only one angle and view, bikers heads turns, see's wing mirrors, drivers eye contact, giving them the nod,,,
i percieve a problem when a cager flashes lights or blows horn, that you have frightened or freaked them, or they are frightened for someones safety.
group riding is much safer if all like minded in wanting a blip, your friends being safety markers for you. and nowadays, with bluetooth sets, a lot can say there is a clear bit ahead for a 5 second blast.

sorry if i souns like a complete wanker, but i'v rode sports bikes in groups, and enjoyed a 350mile sunday run verging on irresponsible all day, and been out with a friend without breaking a 'speed limit' cruise, and being frightened to death.
it's the signals, the waves, the boot out, the comradery, that your going out to look out for one another.
that said, when a police camera whitnesses these things on tv shows, they tar us as hooligans. yet i'v been out with traffic branch riders on a 'day off' and they're crazier than any group.
it's a game of luck out there.
weather you get it right or wrong, or weather you get caught.
