Anyone had ABS problems

Was speaking to a local independent mechanic today who is well versed with BMW.
He reckons that BMW ABS systems are inherently unreliable and break down a lot, often at huge expense.
Just wondering if anyone's had experience of this.

Mine went on my K12GT, the brushes in the electric pump fail or more correctly stick.

Theres a video on youtube of a guy repairing the unit, it's not that hard and saves about £1400 for the replacement!
