In a few weeks time things will start cooling down and we'll be donning thermals again
I saw this on offer on Amazon and thought that's a bit of a bargain at £16.99 (43% off & free carraige) as an underjacket. It's a cycling jacket that's designed to be windproof etc and as an extra layer should work well

Speak for yourselves. I'm in the south of France and its so bleedin' hot that I'm wearing my jeans, and that 'never' happens in the UK I am very much protective clothing guy but jeezus I'm melting if I wear my 'non' ventilated gortex trews. Still wearing my jacket sans liners and all the zips open but jealous of the locals in t-shirts however, that's a step too far.

The jacket arrived yesterday.
Tried it out, and it's surprising how something so thin can add so much warmth. The sleeves have a good length to them so seal the outer jacket well. Has a couple of handy side pockets and a larger rear pocket. Being designed for cyclists it has a neoprene "seal" all the way around the bottom of the jacket that effectively seals it and stops it riding up. Works just as well when worn with leathers too.
Has some reflective edging sewn in to some of the seams so if you were to break down at night say and take your main jacket off it would reflect nicely in headlights.
The only oddball thing is the zip is the wrong way around. Normally the zipper is on the left hand side of a jacket but on this it's on the right. No big deal, I can live with it for the price and the convenience.
Also it's less bulky than my traditional solution of a fleece and can be used as a jacket when off the bike on trips etc

Hmm...
I use most of my cycle gear under my motorcycle kit in the winter (not all the same time mind) But have been thinking about another wind proof top.
Thanks for the tip.
Edit:
Just bought one.
