What did you do to your bike today?

After changing the bars last week back to standard on the R12S. The clutch felt different with the bite point needing lots of lever. The conclusion was there was air in the system, not altogether suprising as we had to split both brake and clutch lines as the high bars had braided extended lines.
Anyway had to order some Vitamol V10 clutch fluid which arrived today, so took the opportunity to replace the clutch fluid completely. The new Vitamol is blue as opposed to the green already in the system. Must be some kind of upgraded fluid.
Job went fine, only tip to pass on is to remove the master cylinder off the bars to tilt it to let the air out as it dosent have a bleed nipple unlike the brake master cylinder.

I am currently 'knocking up' a 12v lighter socket and lead to the battery in anticipation of my French trip so that I can charge my phone on the move.

Yesterday spent hours polishing up my exhaust.
They were brown with tarnish.
Fine wire wool and solvol autosol on the heavily tarnished area's, then a final wipe over with Optiglanz stainless cleaner (magic stuff) on a rag, followed by a polish with autoglym spray polish.
I did everything.
The headers, cat and end can and it all look like brand new, but not for long I suppose.

I love shiny exhausts and header pipes but takes commitment, lots of polishing after every ride. Then again, I love polishing and cleaning bikes.

Once done, this stuff is is great for keeping on top of them and takes away a lot of the hard work.

I used to buy it from Hein Gerick before they closed down here.
I found it on ebay.
It's not cheap but it's very good.
Once you have done the hard work and got your pipes clear of grime and tarnish, this is what you need to keep them looking shiny and clean once in a while.
You will still need the autosol from time to time to remove tarnish spots that will inevitably appear, but the Optiglanz brings the pipes back to their original stainless silver colour as soon as it makes contact.
The instructions say spray it on and wash off, but I don't trust that.
I once got some on my hand and it stung like hell.
Not sure I'd want it all over my paintwork,as I suspect it's acidic so I spray onto a cloth and wipe over.
It evaoprates very quickly, so I then finish off with spray polish like Mr. Sheen,

wonderwheels does a fantastic job of getting the grime off the headers. I tear strips of cloth, wrap them around the headers and soak the cloth with WonderWheels, leave 15 minutes or so then remove the cloth and rub with a pad
Wear gloves tho'

I like that tip of soaking a cloth and leaving it wrapped around the pipes for 15 min. Nice one.
