Front engine cover

Anyone here removed the front engine cover from a 1200S ?
I fancy taking mine of to have it powder coated as it's quite shabby and letting the rest of the engine down cosmetically.
It's difficult to tell if it will clear the front telelever wishbone, so I'd like to hear from anyone who's done it, and what work (if any) other than just un-bolting it and pulling it off, may be required.
Many thanks.

If your engine cover needs doing so may your telelever?take a look at it from underside. Fork ends? Bridges? You may want to do a front end strip anyway and get all those bits done at once?

I think the cover come off without stripping the whole front end, but it is still not straight forward. The alt pulley needs to come off, which requires a special tool.

There are quite a few people who have painted the cover in situ. That may be the way to go.

Here's another example of someone painting it in situ that might help:

If you are getting it powder coated - something to ensure..............

That you mask off all the bolt landing-faces in addition to the mating face to the engine block.

The reason being - that any powder coating between the bolt and the landing face - will crack under the bolt pressure, then allow the bolt to slacken.

That wouldn't be good :?
