My mirror extenders just arrived (hurrah).

Can I just whip out the allen screws attaching the mirrors and refit with the new screws, or do I have to dismantle the entire motorcycle to get at the underside?

Manual is clear as mud on this.

Hornig - item BK04

They're just two lumps of moulded plastic, wider than they look in the photo 5.5cm wide and 4 bolts.....for 65 Euro (eeep!) inc postage.

But the S mirrors finally drove me crazy.

I solved it by removing the mirrors completely and fitting bar mounted mirrors from a GS...same as the BCRs
Better rear view...less vibration, must have cost about twenty quid.

Probably not so COOL though.

regards to all,
What did you do about blanking the holes Phil? The RWB BCR carbon thingies are a bit on the pricey side.

The Mamola BCR's still have the mirrors in the original position, although when I broke a mirror I used my old GS ones on the bars like you say until I could find a replacement

I went the other way and fitted fairing mounted mirrors - find them better than bar mirrors but they seem a little fragile

They work well. I can now see more than my elbows. Like those blue flashing lights behind me ;)

Dunno about COOL though. I even painted 'em satin black to match the mirrors but they still look.... a bit clumsy...........I guess I'll get used to 'em.

The carbon bits that fills the holes is about £70 one. I converted mine to BCR mirrors as it is very easy to remove and fit for track days and the carbon looks ace. No difference between normal mirrors if you smash them on track or the BCR (in effect GS mirrors) with the carbon plugs for the mirror mounts at about circa £190.

This may sound completely daft...but I filled the hole with, wait for it... Plasticine. I then cut two blanks of the right shape from the self adhesive carbon fibre look alike sheet. after two or three years one of them is beginning to peel a bit, so I shall have to cut a couple more blanks. as you say the carbon thingies are pricey.

... disagree.. I've taken one down the road and the glass didn't break.. the arm folded and a bit ground bit off the elbow.. both mirrors were still functional!

Simon, thanks for the reassurance. Bit windy down the A 69 last night. Did that smash up last Friday affect you? Was a nasty buisness

I was amazed the glass didn't break.. must have been the angle..

.. been waiting for the wind to drop.. come into work today on the bike.

WRT smash.. ..managed to go via Lowgate/Hexham rather than police suggestion of Newbrough/Warden.
