If you mean the bevel box pivot ,there shouldn't be any play. Generally if it's been like that for a while the bearings will probably need replacing, and the pivots may be damaged.
I adjusted mine as play developed (without inspecting) when I first bought my bike but it wasn't a pretty sight when I finally replaced.
Probably best to strip down , replace the bearings and use the stickiest grease you can find to lube.

If its the Swingarm it may need tightening or the bearings replaced. Problem is you can tighten it to get the play out but not know if the bearings are knackered. My bike had knackered bearings but I adjusted the play out of the Swingarm as I didn't know. A few weeks later and bang goes the clutch.
Because the bearings were knackered the Swingarm and gearbox were out of line which wore the splines off the output shaft of the engine.
Probably a worst case scenario but I'd get it checked out. After having the clutch, recon gearbox and bearings replaced the bill was over a grand.
