Hi all,
Anyone have any suggestions of what to do next?? As the weather finally appeared to be playing ball this weekend I decided to get the bike out and see how the rebuilt shockers are performing. I last rode the bike nearly 3 months ago and it was running as well as ever back then. Went out yesterday and after a mile or so the engine management light came on and it was running as roughly as a very rough thing---Dropping onto one cylinder and then chiming back onto two again. I initially put this down to water/damp somewhere in the systems. Went home and stopped the bike, Turned it back on faults cleared fron the dash and it appears to be running just fine. This morning turns it on and it starts up fine no faults on the dash so off I go. Again after a mile or so its running rough again and the engine management light is back on. Still thinking its water or damp somewhere I ride for a few miles and think its getting better. Stop and turn the motor off thinking that this will clear the dash again but no now its only running on one cylinder. Back home and I have checked for sparks --Yes there is sparks on both pots, Swapped the stick coils around but still only runs on one (the R/H side as you sit on the bike) Tried a stick coil from Alans 1200R still the same. Had both injectors out and swapped them around, Still the same. Tank, fuel lines and pressure regulator all off and checked for any visable damage, Cannot see any. Only thing I'm not sure about is the fuel pump isnt priming up every time I turn on but why would it run on one cyclinder if the pumps faulty??. Any suggestions as to what I should be looking at next. I have a feeling that this might get very expensive
Hi Peter, it sounds as though you may have water in the fuel tank? it seperates from the fuel at rest, settles on the bottom of the tank, but may get into the fuel lines once on the move.

Similar symptoms to mine when I had a TPS breaking down - Would be fine for a while and then ran like a dog. Finally became completely unrideable - Had the used bike warranty thankfull as the part is aorund £170 I think.
I really thought it was water in the works as well - Checked all that you have done too.
Can you swap one from the 1200R to see if that cures it?
Hope that helps
Best regards,
David

3 months is long enough for your fuel to go stale. I have read about similar symptoms caused by either water or old fuel. I would give it all a flush and start with fresh fuel before wasting too much time and effort checking everything else.
Hi Gus,
Unfortunately I don't know of anyone with a GS911 unit. Don't fancy spending £200+ on one just now. Will try swapping the TPS and see what happens.
Herb,
Fuel level was low yesterday so as soon as the problems started I filled up.
Hi All,
Found someone local to me with a GS911 (thanks to UKGSer) so I now know the fault, Code 10151 Injector valve 2. Basically a dead injector although as yet I do not know why. Tried swapping it out with one from Alans bike but still get the same fault code so it looks like the wiring or the ECU is at fault. At least I now know where to start looking.
Hi All,
Think I have found the problem, Broken wire inside the rubber boot on the injector plug. Just need to source a new plug now--Think I have found a supplier but they are not open Sat . Hopefully will be all sorted next week
Hi Reg, Dont think that would go down to well with Alan, Not happy about using the Bus along with the local "Chavs" as it is. Have you decided what your doing at Easter Yet??
Hi,
I think that the congratulations/Well done's should really go to Steve K from UKGSer (who lives in Hull) He came round with a GS911 tester and read the fault codes which enabled me to start looking for the problem. Without his help I would still be scratching around in the dark looking for who knows what!!!

Peter.
Some of those UKGSer blokes are almost human.
