The orrible dark nights are on us and to keep myself occupied of an evening the re assemble of my Vtr 1000spy has started. I bought this in April 2011, it is my second one, a very grunty sports bike that is best on smooth tarmac. It is coming up 13 years old 2 previous owners and it has less than 11000 miles on the clock.
Mechanically it is ace, cosmetically I have a had a bit of refurb to do and some original parts to source such as indicators, underseat tray mudguard and pillion pad. The panels have all been freshened up and re lacquered with original fairing screws aqquired from David Silver spares. The tacky pro bolt gold anodised shxte and the equally shxte after market seat tidy, mini indicators double bubble smoked wind sheild were all punted on, on ebay.
The Alarm and imobiliser went in the skip and a couple of hours were spent on making the harness good. Buying a bike with an after market alarm immobiliser fitted gives you a platform to negotiate to have some money knocked off
Thiese bikes sound great, are great value for money and make you feel special when riding them. It is not every Honda that has HRC moulded into the engine casings. When it is re assembled I will be showing it off in all its glory. I have now over invested in it and that is just to get it back to standard the only non Honda parts on it are the new K+N air box filters. This was one of the first (if not the first) sports bikes to have ram air directed straight through the headstock and a digital clock unit, sublime bike with one of the best engines ever fitted in to a road bike.
