When fitting hellicoil or hellicoil type thread inserts put a drop of threadlock onto the insert before fitting leave to dry before putting a bolt or screw into the insert and you will have a longer lasting repair

Edit
A lot of people get confused as to the adjustable coller on the insersion tool the reason it's there is so you can set it to stop the insert stretching as you screw it in and so you can tell when to stop turning the tool when the coller touches the face that you are putting the insert into give it another half turn and you are done if you are working on a blind hole the tang can be removed with a strong magnet after snapping it off [ yes most are magnetic]

Edit
Two for one here not relevant on bikes with ally fuel tanks but a handy one for those of us with other vehicles with steel fuel tanks

Glue or tape a magnet to the side of the fuel filter to catch all those little bits of rust that will pass through most filters before they get to your carbs or fuel injection system

Hope this will help someone Dai
