HID Kit fitting.

Post by conkerman »

Hey all.

I bought the H1 kit from Hawk on ebay.

I connected both of the lamps yesterday and there was a brief dim flash then nothing.

I am in touch with the vendor who reckons the bike has CANBUS. I disagree. I was under the impression that the R1200 was where CANBUS was introduced.

Voltage supply is good and earth resistance back to battery -ive is <1 Ohm.

Can you confirm (although I know) that a 99 R1100S will not be CANBUS.

Anyone have any ideas to test before I lob them back to the Vendor?

Cheers

No CANBUS on my 2001 R1100S. I think you are right about its introduction on the R1200S.
Sounds like a faulty unit.

I had a HID Headlight Conversation on the dip beam on my
BMW R1100S 2003 with no problems for about three years.
The bike and kit were not "CANBUS"

Gary,
Long shot, but check your tail light
When I first fitted HiD to my 99 11S, the tail light blew (age probably), which for whatever reason meant the headlight didn't come on,
I replace the rear bulb and hey presto, HiD headlight :?:

I never understood electricity

X2
Try the old headlamp back and if that's ok just plug one unit in at a time swoping the unit and lamps over as well making sure that they are both u/s.
If you wanted to go mad you could stick one in your car to make sure it's not a problem with the bike.
hope this helps

Hi all.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Will have a look at the rear light.

H1 Bulb works straight away when plugged in. Swapped bulbs and ballasts and the same. Put them directly across a brand new battery (for the Daytona project). No dice. So that pretty much discounts a bike related issue.

Just need to find the invoice from the seller.

Nads.
