Did you put a road on the rear and leave the sport on the front? If so, how did it work out please

That mix of tyres shouldn't be too bad cos Pilot sports have a gentle profile on them and Pilot roads are quite sporty.
Gearbox oil just use either a EP90w or a EP80/90w multigrade.Something like castrol is fine available at Halfords. If you want to spend lots of money something like Mobil fully synthetic will give slicker gear changing.
Bailey.

Just don't mix a squared off Z6 rear with a pointy Z4 front - it isn't the best  If you like twitchy though, I'd highly reccomend it

Jason

I think I'll take a reccomendation from Mr Bailey next and try the pilot roads - you never know till you try eh

What is a good price for a pilot Road, and how can I ensure the coating on the rim is not buggered up, any tips?

Take it to a place that only does bike tyres, show them the unmarked rim(s) and politely :) ask for it back in the same condition. Can't recommend anyone down your neck of the woods but I'm sure someone here will.

I just phoned Micheldever and they quoted me £180 for a pair of pilot roads to loose rims, or £145 for Z6s. I'd like to try the roads but can't afford to pay an extra 20% for the privilege when the Z6s are easily good enough for me!

Neither of these are better than Jason's pricing on the Michelins, but overall both sites arent bad

I've riden for a few thousand miles with a Pilot Sport on the front and a Road on the back with no problems (other than the issue of waming up the sports). The Roads have plenty of grip and last bloody ages. I got rid of them a few months ago as I switched to 014s for a track day. The Road had 3k miles on it and wasn't showing any wear although it did have two puncture repairs so it wasn't worth keeping.
