Got my caliper overhaul kits for my front calipers.

Just need to get the time together to fit it, along with the multitude of other jobs to do.

Finally put the GS back together, and to my utter amazement it runs! A childhood of Airfix models wasn't entirely wasted it seems... Actually, it wasn't too bad - it's just a matter of picking up all the bits of bike cluttering up the shed and bolting them back on in the order you took them off... Managed to trap the oil pressure sensor lead behind the starter motor :( , but apart from bleeding the back brake that was all the hassle.

So, it's been off the road for 5 weeks, while the 100RS has had a good tryout instead. Cost about £300 in parts (complete clutch plus input shaft) plus £650 to strip & rebuild the gearbox, plus say 3 days of my time stripping down, lots of cleaning, & reassembling.

Sincerely hoping I can get back to just riding the thing now!

Sold it! I wasn't even in the country so pretty chuffed with that one

Don't worry everyone, it was the 1100S I sold but it's OK because I bought another one a few weeks ago :D

I don't envy the costs , it sounds like a lot to strip and rebuild a box ( just thinking out loud).

Did to me too; but I wanted someone I could rely on and he is a stickler for getting it right. I gave him the complete back transmission so there was some extra to disassemble, and he reckoned it took him a bit over 1 1/2 days all up. To be fair, the box is definitely slicker now than it was before; but you're right, am I now a captive customer? When is a job "good enough" and what's the cost playoff?

Not offence intended but the Ohlins remote adjuster bracket arrangement in your photo looks a bit... errr.......crap!

Well- it is what it is............

Mask the adjuster, spray the bracket and bolts black- you'd never notice it.

Does it get in the way of the pillion's feet in that position?

Mine is mounted differently (but does have a different bracket which could also do with some black paint!):

I rode my "new to me" R12r to CW's and back a round trip of 3 hours the way I go just to get some handlebar mounting bolts so I could remove the risers fitted by previous owner.

Fitted the front mudgauard extender and a loud horn already.

Also ordered a new seat and Puig sports screen. New bike farkling frenzy!
