Where does the Carbtune attach to the throttle bodies? I realise this will probably become clear when I go and look at the bike!
Under each throttle body you'll see a little rubber cap you need to take off and connect them to. Make sure you put the rubber caps back on properly otherwise it won't run right!
It's ideal to do it with someone who knows what they're doing first, but as you're in a hurry because of your trip just get the bike nice and warm (10 minute ride), hook it up and look at your idle speed first. Any adjustment needed here is done with the brass idle screws. Once that is set don't touch the brass idle screws again and adjust the throttle cables to get them balanced under load (check around 3k-4k rpm - doesn't have to be a precise rpm). As you retighten the throttle cable nut it will slightly put what you've done out of position so factor that in when you're adjusting. You'll notice it the first time you do it and see how much it affects things.
Just out of curiosity, did you find you had to do much adjustment to the throttle cable, and was it fairly self-evident which way to adjust it? I've read elsewhere/seen youtube videos that say about having 2mm of play on the cable at that end, but I'm guessing it's down to how each individual bike runs.
Carbtune will likely arrive tomorrow - I've enlisted the help of a mate at work who's done it before on other BMWs, so that'll be a nice little lunchbreak project for us.

as it's your first time, and it "may" take longer to do while you acquaint yourself with the process, make sure you use some fans to keep the motor cool.

Well that was easy! Took all of five minutes, huge improvement! Idles perfectly and smoother throughout the rev range. Thank you to you all for your help, as always!!

Forgot to say, I just need to get some new rubber bungs, as they're slightly perished.

Excellent, Morgan Carbtunes are worth their weight in gold and being honest slightly less than an hours labour in a BMW dealers workshop

Precisely - couldn't help thinking that BMW would have charged me twice what I paid for the gauge, so for what took literally 5 minutes I'm well happy!

Sorry, a bit late on this but as you probably found it didn't take much adjustment and you can quickly work out which way it needs to go!
Don't stress too much about how much play each cable needs - if all you're doing is making a small adjustment after it had been done properly at the last service you can't go that far wrong.
Glad you found it easy - it's amazing how simple it seems once you've done it! You would definitely have been completely ripped off by a garage for doing that.
