I can only think that is te bolt for the mounting of the crash guards...which means you bike has had them mounted at one point before putting the carbone heads on...
i could be wrong though...but that what is mounted on my (also Red) "S".
hope this helps.

No more BMW just XR400R and CBR1000RR & Dark side - Buell Uly XB12X (and black is the fastest one!)
ah, you're in luck if you've got one of those fitted to your bike - you need to replace the assembly that it's holding in place with an equivalent part from a ducati...
'Hinterachsge' translates as 'rear axle'.(Not 'Differential', so f*** off)
THe point circled is the front allen bolt for mounting the BMW crash protectors, you will find another 6mm threaded hole at the back of the cylinder and one under the cylinder near the head/barrel joint on the single spark engines.
The front bolts seem to be a problem and tend to snap on removal, but can be fairly easy drilled and helio coiled.

Lucy,
I think the joker is having you on and suggesting that you remove the bolt and drive a different bike up to it.
If enough is enough and more is better than too much should be just about right.
