interested in the postings re mobil synthetic in the gearbox - have stripped mine today because it no longer stops in 4th 5th 6th gear, selector drum knackered, cam follower on one of the forks v worn, fork cracked in two. The inside of the box is coated with a really sticky green glop & the movements, especially the action of the forks on the shafts, are really sticky and heavy - is this normal for gear oil?
Not complaining though - because, whilst dismantling the thing, I found that one of the top frame lugs that holds the rear steel subframe was cracked right off. I'm 13st, never carried a pillion or luggage, it's never had a heavy hit on the rear frame. The broken lug looks too slim for the job (I suppose it would, now!), and the failure isn't a clean crack - more like a poor quality casting. Anyone else heard of these failing?

Yes - but only usually if the bike's been dropped. Sounds a bit ominous this one.
