Panniers.

Postby snavetrauts » Tue Aug 15, 2006 8:33 am

Hi All,
Are the panniers for the 1100S unique to this model, or do they also fit other models. I know the rails are unique obviously, but wonder If I could buy other model sets if they come up on ebay say. I have put a request in Bits and Bobs, but they do not seem to come up very often

cheers

RT, R and S are all the same. GS ones (well, the left hand one) are different.

Stuart,
Adams nearly right, RT/RS and S are the same R and GS have a different l/h one to accomadate the upswept exhaust. I think that they would still fit but you lose some capacity in the l/h side.

Regards Peter.

Hmmm, now do I edit my post to make it right... Ok I concede I made a partial error. The last one was in 1989

It's not strictly an error, as the left one is dfifferent but still fits. Pete was being pedantic. You were incomplete in your anwer.
Now both sort it out please! Bah

I have assymetrical panniers (ahem)...

didn't notice till I tried to get a lid in each - the smaller of the two won't accommodate a full faced helmet!

No idea what they are from as they were purchased from a former member of this board..

Generally work a treat though (not that I've used em much this year).

Hi Stuart

As everyone else has already stated.

You can also try http://www.ebay.de, I've noticed there are generally a lot more for sale on there than on the UK site and the majority of sellers will post to the UK (European Union).

They have also started to use Paypal as well to accept payment, whereas previously they wanted Bank transfers through your own bank.

They tend to go for decent money though, so not too many bargains!

Stuart

Forgot to mention the German word for pannier is KOFFER, so search for BMW seitenkoffer, BMW systemkoffer, BMW motorradkoffer, in the category (Kategorie) Auto & Motorrad.

The L/H ones from the R/GS DON'T fit properly in fact because the lower mounting lug is in a different place - again because of the exhaust.
