Where there's blame......

Post by milleplod »

.....munching on my Waitrose-supplied 'tender babyleaf salad' yesterday evening (yep, the bike kit's mysteriously shrunk again.... ), I chomped down on this little beggar, which most definitely was more prickly than tender!!

I initially thought something horrible, with many legs, had bitten me...I was almost relieved to find it was an inert (baby!) thistle leaf!

Anyway, eMail pinged over to Waitrose, Daily Mail contacted, online petition started re closing down Waitrose etc etc :D

That is not a Thistle leaf. It is a Triffid leaf, the white stuff will morph you into your dog.

I've heard of people instagramming their meals before they eat them, but their is the first picture I've seen of something after it's been spat out. You sir, are a social media pioneer, and I salute you! When all our kids start following suit, we know who to thank
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

When I joined the army and started basic training, at breakfast time in the cookhouse you'd scoop out your cornflakes with a bowl from a huge vat.
Then before you tucked in you'd rummage through to get rid of the cockroaches.
You'd normally find at least one.
We thought nothing of it because the place was infested with them.

In the army I was , 26 years, trust me , the cook would have been shot .......

One night on the border during our troubles , one cook shot the other over a dispute ....

In basics , the cooks were all charged for giving the entire camp , 1000 plus troops gypo guts ...

Yes , our army graze tended to be reasonably good .

25 years for me.
In juniors overnight we had to do guard duties on camp which included internal patrols of the cookhouse.
There was so many cockroaches scurrying around you'd often hear them crunching underfoot.
The place was infested with them.
Often when you were eating, they'd be falling off the ceiling into your food.
No one got shot.
Trust me.
There is nothing you can tell me about life in the services.
What regiment were you in and when ?
I was Household Division
