R1200S for Sale

Postby SP250 » Tue May 17, 2016 10:35 pm

It is with great regret that due to serious discomfort with arthritis related joint pain and being advised to stop taking so many painkillers just to be able to ride, I have unfortunately had to come to the decision that I must sell my immaculate 56 plate R1200S, bought last year from Andy Griffiths. It has been very well cared for, still low mileage (16,200) non-ABS bike with numerous high cost extras, which will all be included in the sale. Many of you know the bike from the various Boxertrix tours we have been on and can endorse its condition.
I have added an Ohlin’s front shock since acquiring the bike and a longer SS braided front brake line as the original was too short with suspension topped out and the raised Heli bars.

Yellow, black wheels.
Heated grips.
BMW sport panniers.
BMW colour matched pillion seat cover (+ spare rider & pillion seats).
Pilot Road 3 tyres (a few hundred miles left on both).
Ohlin’s shocks front and rear.
Akrapovic silencer.
Ilmberger carbon belly pan which also protects the front paintwork on the engine.
Ilmberger carbon head protectors & new replacement pair.
Heli bars.
Pyramid hugger.
MRA screen with adjustable spoiler and another spare screen.
Paddock stand.

All the standard original parts are included in sale.
Current MOT to 30 March 2017.
Located near Shrewsbury Shropshire.

Well as there has been exactly zero interest in my bike (except for the spare cyl head covers) I guess I will have to put it on ebay.

Never sold anything on ebay - will lack of feedback go against me and is there an idiots guide somewhere of how to do it?

Put in as an auction, but I always recommend bunging it in "ebay classifieds" - name your price, allowing for say £200-300 off, and post as many pics as they let you.

If you aren't sure as to value - make it ONO.

There is a one time fee of £20-ish.

List your mobile number, but be prepared for texts with "Will you take £900 for a quick sale, mate?"

See if that works .....

John,

If you're asking for opinions - mine is go for MCN first. Ebay is a fickle place for prices. It can go either way. Sometimes great, sometimes chancers who want something for next to nothing. The 1200S is a great bike, but for a knowledgable and niche market. Every time I have used MCN I have had calls and interest and more often than not from people who know what they want.

I think you're right in that 10 days on here is enough to know whether a member is looking for his/her next great bike. MCN is both online and print formats and you advert will be carried for 6 weeks if i recall correctly online as long as you book 2 weeks in print.

Ebay's costs are not insignificant if you go for an auction. Plus you need Paypal unless willing to accept cash ( with its usual risks) or cheque and delayed handover.

Zero feedback may all put off some buyers

John I only wish I had the money and I would have bought it by now. Anyone want a RWB Boxercup? (not free of course - just thought I'd point that out!)
