Decat headers.

Postby milleplod » Wed Feb 03, 2016 7:02 am

Other than being able to say 'My ST's got decat headers', what are the advantages of having them? My bike has had the Hilltop remap done, and has a Remus can fitted.

The decat headers will allow better breathing, and since you have Hilltop'd your bike - the software should add fuel at the right places to compensate for the leaner mixture caused by the decat.

That's good to know. Just picked up a set for £130 - they need a good clean, a couple of hours in the garage should see them gleaming again! :)

Al, for my benefit & milleplod's, won't it need a remap if he's putting new headers on it?

He says it has already been to Hilltop.

That software has a reported +/-10% "self-learning" capability, which should cater for any additional improvements to the breathing, or even reverting the induction/exhaust system to standard.

I do remember Geoff saying that Al - also that the sensors should be left in situ, not binned.
