I got a quote last year, just prior to a ride across France into Spain - I thought the breakdown (Emergency Service) would be well worth having. A week before I went, having set up the cover online, I called just to check if 'self-serviced' bikes were covered (my ST was BMW serviced up till it being 4 years old, I've been doing it since).
I used to have it on my GSA, and it cost around £330 for a year (including the emergency cover) - then, they changed it such that the emergency cover cost an additional premium (over the £330)..........
That's when I stopped.
Looks like they have gone back to including the emergency cover - probably due to a lot of people ditching the cover.

They ask you to declare "I can confirm that my vehicle has been fully serviced in accordance with the manufacturing recommendations/intervals and has not been modified in any way" when setting it up online.
In the policy booklet, it mentions that you should keep any garage receipts for servicing work, and that genuine, or equivalent quality, parts must have been used. But even if you're a fully trained mechanic, they won't accept DIY servicing.
