Thanks Steve - this was with the Fuji X-Pro1/56-f1.2

A really good day, our eldest was doing a short presentation as part of the Battle of Britain 75th Anniversary concert in Liverpool Cathedral. This old chap (Fred, obviously) was reading 'High Flight' as part of the evening too.

Was a proud - and certainly emotional - evening, and a privilege to spend some time with Fred and some of his WW2 colleagues.

In the 90`s I was part of the team that carried out a major service on the BBMF Lancaster at St Athan when it was repainted to commemorate the Tirpitz bombing, at the end of the job we had an open evening for the local British Legions where we planned to run up the engines etc. Well word got around and several busloads of ex aircrew from miles around arrived, the poor PR Officer had to get extra tea urns and biscuits! These men, elderly even then were really humble and very appreciative of the chance to be near the aircraft again, I had many good experiences in the service but spending the evening with those guy`s was one of the best.

The boiler house of the old Dingleton Hospital in Melrose...........

Image

In semi-dark conditions (when I first saw it) - it was an eerie sight.

It sits across a narrow road from residential housing, but I hear it may be a listed building ....... which would be crazy.

Not a bad shot Al. I like it but I'm really into big concrete structures. It's listed because the the architect is recognised as doing work that should be kept. Looks like it's to be flats

No - that's just the redevelopment of the hospital buildings. I am taken with the building, but believe that it should be removed.

I think the owner is just going to let it degrade - in the hope that someone has to remove it, but probably doesn't realise that concrete gets stronger with age :?

The Tricorn Centre in Portsmouth was similar - "of an age" - sure, but was a real hinderance to the city development.

Callling Fred Dibnah!

The Tricorn Centre. Now there is a blast from the past for a former Gosport boy!

Pop a CD on top and cut around with scissors (you may want to ask an adult to help with this bit). Should fit a treat :D

Not a bad first attempt

My son and his mate competed in first ever event Sunday, Poatina Hillclimb. Event was called off due to an accident on 3rd run (event was 6 runs), but they secured 15th out of 40 on 1st run, and 13th on second...5th overall in AWD section. Son Jon navigated this event and will drive next.
