Intake Duct Self-Tapping Screws

Postby Auspuff » Tue Dec 23, 2014 4:10 am

Gents,

(R1100S, 2001, iABS, 9,000 miles)

Stupid question: Has anyone found a sensible, stainless(?) alternative to those (2) bloody Self-Tapping Screws (p/n 13 711 342 959) attaching the intake air duct to the top of intake filter box please?

Drill out the holes, tap them and then screw in some studding then you can hold the lid on with nuts & washers. But I'd just carry on using the screws.
There would appear to be a surfeit of prolixity and sesquipedalian content today please do not use a big word when a singularly un-loquacious and diminutive linguistic expression will satisfactorily accomplish the contemporary necessity

TTT,

Thank you; however, I was hoping that someone had discovered an alternative 5 x 20 self-tapping screw - perhaps a hex-head one in stainless that didn't do the usual BMW trick of rounding if one even looked at it!

Anyone?
