Bike blown over - new cylinder head cover reqd
As the title says, got home this evening and found my bike having a little lie down. Fortunately the damage seems minimal - the plastic cylinder head "protector" has broken off, and there's a dent in the cylinder head itself.
So, how much for some proper Boxer Cup head protectors, and where can I buy them?
And where can I buy a new cylinder head cover - the actual aluminium part? eBay I guess...
Any tips or leads would be appreciated.

Cylinder heads are a very reasonable price - so much so that the head protectors are of dubious value - costing almost as much !
There Boxercup carbon ones are a scary price but there are carbon imitations available on the net - buyer beware on quality and fit...

'Protectors' is definitely not the word for them! They're flimsy and would have been snapped in your case meaning you'd need a new rocker cover and a new carbon cover!Motocod wrote:So, how much for some proper Boxer Cup head protectors, and where can I buy them?

Single spark or twin-spark??
LH or RH cover ??
I could be wrong but I don't believe the original Boxercup rocker covers are the same as standard 11S covers as they need to include the threaded holes for the CF cover which I don't think are present on the standard S covers. Don't think they have 'Magnesium' wording or the fins either but as I say I could be wrong
try ebay but Rocking horse poo springs to mind
How badly is the CF damaged? Can it be repaired or carbon wrapped?

It's the throttle side. I think I'm right in saying it's a twin spark. '53 plate bike.
I don't presently have the carbon fibre covers, just the piddly little plastic things.
To be honest, from what I could see in the dark and rain last night the rocker cover appears dented but doesn't actually have a hole in it, so it may be ok.

My mistake. when you asked about BCR covers I assumed you had one.Motocod wrote:It's the throttle side. I think I'm right in saying it's a twin spark. '53 plate bike.

To be honest the BCR carbon covers are simply that, covers! They certainly don't provide much protection and cost an arm and a leg. I know!! I think the covers (guards) you have would probably offer more protection that the CF ones.
The standard cylinder head covers come up on ebay quite frequently so if you can live with the damage for now, just wait until a good one comes up.
You never know the new guard might cover the damage

Engine bars??
Just had another look at the bike in daylight, and although the rocker cover is a bit dented it doesn't seem to go all the way through. I may investigate having it repaired by getting it welded and dressed back and then re-painting, as I suspect it may be cheaper than a replacement.
So, this leads me on to protection. The Boxer Cup covers are nice but don't like like any more than cosmetic covers. Has anyone gone down the route of engine bars or GS-style heavy duty aluminium engine protector on their 1100S?
