Oil Pressure Switch Query

I'm about to replace the oil pressure switch on the 1150GS - playing up, but only when the engine's hot so I've fried some fingers testing continuity ...

Anyway, I read somewhere that I need to tilt the bike over but Haynes doesn't mention it. Can I just unscrew the thing without dumping all my oil too? I guess I can always put a clean container underneath and stick it back in.

Admittedly I've never changed the switch but as it's above the level of oil in the sight glass I guess you'll get a small dribble from the oil way, the sump level is well below this.

Edit , what I should have said is that oil only passes the switch under pressure when the engine is running so as long as you don't try to change it when the engine is running you'll be ok!

Well for the record, you're right and it's simplicity itself. Just unscrew old switch, screw in new one & torque up, end of. If you haven't done it before, you'll likely need a deep socket. Not even a dribble...
