Solution to a problem that shouldn't exist

Post by DaveH »

Is it just me or does the open right hand side of the underseat area on the 12S cause others problems.

As it's about the only bit of useable space on the bike, it seems ridiculous that BMW didn't make it fully sealed with an option to remove a panel for the alarm if fitted,

After my very wet trip to Scotland in September, this area was full of water and fine grit - not good considering I have an Autocom, Inforad, Switchable Can-Bus 'bypass' system, Garmin Traffic reciever and PMR Bike to bike radio all stashed under there.

I have therefore knocked up a GRP splash guard to solve the problem.

Photos in case anyone else fancies a bash at making one. :)

What a great fix. Well done squire. I take it has solved the issue?

I took my toolkit out and keep the autocom in there. Not really sure how it fares sat about the Zorst as I didn't get to use it much, but we'll see

Nicely done!
I did the same thing on mine with a piece of aluminum.....or....aluminium to youse guys!
It also helps keep the tools in place!

You are using the bike outwith BMW design parameters. 12S only meant to be ridden on dry, warm sunny days and kept in the garage when weather threatens rain
