wobbly panniers

Post by slparry »

I was a bit concerned the panniers on my KGT were a bit "loose" .. mentioned it to the dealership when I took it in for service and apparently there's a shimming kit available to rectify it, which they did. All nice and secure again now :)

As the panniers are the same on the R1200RT, R and ST models I thought it may be of help to owners of those here :)

Go on Steve, tell how they shim them up....

Mine have a bit of movement. Don't think they would fall off though.

Not to keen on the ST pan-ears anyway, horrible shape, if only I could fit a set of GS style alum' boxes top opening with sufficient room for 2 cases of beer per side....and some milk and bread...and some cheese and ham...and some charcoal, steak and fire lighters....and a few bottles of vino.......and some crisps....

I'm not sure but I think they shim up at the part that "rises" on the inside (wheel) edge of the cases

Don't worry about the panears, Mike - it's the whole bike that's wobbling............ :D
