Hi guys
I am looking to take the bike with me and the campervan... I've got a box trailer, but thats a bit big and like towing a caravan. The bike is too heavy for a rear mounted bike carrier, so interested in one of those carriers where you mount the front wheel in and strap it to the tow bar, and then effectively tow the rear wheel. Anyone got experience with one of these, or any thoughts on the effect of towing the bike / back wheel and how this would affect the drive train?? Theres several different varieties on ebay at the moment
thanks

I don't think any of the drive-train would be damaged, but you'll put a fair amount of centre wear on the rear tyre?
Also - you are still going to have about 110Kg additional weight on the tow-hitch, which on a camper van is already - way behind the rear axle. I don't fancy it one bit - to be honest.
Have a look on Ebay for a small Bikelug trailer, or they sometimes have them on Pistonheads (where they are generally cheaper ). If you paid £250 for a trailer - you would always get that money back when you re-sold.
The main benefits are of course - low nose weight on the tow-ball, and no wear on rear tyre of bike.

Forget the camper van , dude. Spread your wealth about and book a decent nights rest and enjoy your bike _________________ chase me |

hey boxerscott
I am planning on passing through your way in a couple of weeks as part of a mad dash from Whitby to John O Groats (and back) - spreading it about and splashing out on B&B for the night! Good recommendation.
The campervan is so I can tour Morocco, and North Norway to see the northern lights and..... and ride the bike when I am there!!
any takers for the John O Groats run or anyone know B&B in Wick?? _________________ Red R1100S. Stock (so far) |

In October a few years back, I saw the Northern Lights while having a half term break in Hexham. Saved hundreds on that cruise into the North/Arctic Sea to do the same! _________________ Oyster. 1999 R1100S. Almost original. |

the whole point of getting the camper van is to take SWMBO even further north to see the Northern Lights - perhaps I should just take her on the JOG dash!!! Would she be impressed?? Er NO _________________ Red R1100S. Stock (so far) |

.. if you've seen the Northern lights from Hexham, I'm jealous.. Mind you, in the late pm I'm usually facing the other way.. the pub's north of my house. _________________ Simon with a
