Ireland, W.A.W.

Just got back from a fantastic week in Harz, now planning next years trip.

My group are thinking of Ireland, specifically a section of the Wild Atlantic Way. The problem is we only have a week, stretchable to 9 days.

Has anyone done a week on this road? Which section should we look at given our limited time?

Any comments / advice welcome.

I've done mainly day trips (from Dublin) on many of the roads that are now part of the waw so not much use for you . For sheer unspoiled breathtaking views it would have to be imo Killary Harbour(fjord) . And there's a nice flowing road running alongside it too.

The cliffs of Moher are good too and then down South is the Beara peninsula although I never got in the cable car to Dursey Island....
Thers's also Glenveagh In Donegal and Killarney in the South .
You can see a scattered pattern emerging here ... Maybe a helicopter would be more useful .
You could easily lose a week in the Southern part but In the past the narrow roads have been busier with lots of tourist buses.. I haven't been that way in a while and presumably with the promotion of the waw the traffic may be worse.

Thanks Nigel. I'll check out some of your suggestions. See if we can string a sensible route together.

That's cool. Looks like I have some research to do.
