Ireland ?

Postby RoLoo » Sat Dec 22, 2012 12:13 pm

Summerholiday 2013.

We are already making some plans for next summer’s holiday ; and after reading an article in our local newspaper about being Londonderry the City of Culture 2013, this whole Ireland thing came to mind.

What do you think ; is it worth the trip ?

Any recommendations ? (like : which part, B&B, etc.etc.)

Thanx !
Have a nice day !
Ron.

Well worth doing if your up north have a look at Island magee a beutifull spot with some cracking bars and you could head north and follow the Antrim coast there are some great bars and restraunts all along the coast road
Or head inland to Lough Neagh take a couple of days follow the road round stopping off wherever you feel
Remember there is no hurry just take your time and relax if you fancy extending your stay tell the ferry company you have broken down and cant make the ferry you are booked on [they have been fine with me when i have done this and not charged any extra ]

Just do it Dai

I did the Ireland 'loop' back in the 90's ... entered into Roslare and then rode clockwise along the south and western coasts taking in Kerry, Galway, Connemara, Mayo, Sligo, Donegal, Londonderry, Coleriane (watched the NW200), then back down the east coast.
Ireland is a very motorbike friendly nation.

Definitely not.. , It depends how much time you have , you could lose a week in Northern Ireland alone , and the enjoyment level depends a lot on the weather.
Blueboxer summed it up here

You could do a bit of windmill spotting...

As Nigel pointed out the weather can be interesting! shall we say? you can get brilliant sunshine then torrential rain ten minutes later
But it never seem's to rain for a whole day it may rain for a couple of hours then the sun will come out or it will be sunny for most of the day then tip down for ten minutes
If you avoid the tourist traps the people are friendly and the bars are good
On the road often when you come up behind slower moving vehicles they will pull over for you to pass
All in all a nice place Dai
